The City of Cape Town is pairing R227 million public library upgrade with new economic initiatives to boost youth entrepreneurship and the region's booming business outsourcing sector.
By funding accessible learning spaces alongside targeted career training, the municipality aims to support both grassroots education and long-term job growth.
Recognising that the municipality's 102 public libraries facilitate over seven million visits annually, the City has earmarked substantial capital to modernise these critical community hubs.
"Over the next three years, we plan to invest R227 million in library upgrades, equipment, books, and subscriptions," Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis confirmed following the recent reopening of the Khayelitsha library.
