Santorini is showing clear signs of a decline in arrivals, according to data presented by Santorini Hoteliers’ Association President Antonis Pagonis.

Total arrivals from abroad to the island showed a drop of 25% in May compared to May 2024 and of 20% in June compared to the same month the previous year. He added that the drop in hotel reservations is even steeper.

The comparison is with 2024, because 2025 was affected by seismic activity and cannot be used as a yardstick. The contraction comes as Santorini hoteliers are locked in a legal dispute with the Trivago platform, which they accuse of misrepresenting their island and encouraging users to visit nearby Milos instead.
