In a week-long Statewide operation focused on proactive and preventive policing measures, the Tamil Nadu Police arrested 949 offenders and executed 2,385 non-bailable arrest warrants.Acting on the instructions of Director-General of Police and Head of the Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, intensive enforcement drives were launched against History Sheet (HS) rowdy elements, habitual offenders, and absconding accused persons involved in various criminal activities.In the operation that commenced on July 1, continuous checking and surveillance were undertaken against the suspects. A total of 24,025 HS rowdies and others who had come to the adverse notice of the police were checked, of whom 949 offenders were arrested and sent to jail.During the special drive on Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) execution, 2,385 NBWs were executed through sustained enforcement efforts. Intensive efforts were also being undertaken to execute pending NBWs and secure absconding accused.The sustained enforcement measures and special drives had enhanced coordination among field units, strengthened preventive policing, improved execution of warrants, and facilitated focused action against habitual offenders and trouble-mongers, thereby reinforcing law enforcement and contributing to the maintenance of public order and safety of women and children across the State, an official statement issued by the police headquarters said.
