I did not go to Cannes this year, but it came to me anyway and told me something the industry still refuses to hear.

I didn’t watch Cannes this year. I didn’t even seek it out.
It just showed up in my feed between everything else, served to me by an algorithm that apparently understands the festival better than I do. I didn’t go looking for the most prestigious week in advertising. It arrived as creator content, filmed by the people who were actually there for audiences who don’t work in our industry and never will.
I should tell you why that landed the way it did.
