A warm reception was accorded at the Srirangam railway station on Wednesday to the weekly Charlapalli - Tiruchi express train after its regularisation. A group of rail users led by the Tiruchi Lok Sabha MP Durai Vaiko and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party men assembled at the Srirangam station in the evening well before the arrival of the train in the evening. A reception was accorded by Mr. Durai Vaiko and his party men at the station when the express train reached Srirangam station.Upon arrival of the train, Mr. Durai Vaiko adorned shawls to the loco pilot and assistant loco pilot of the express train and gave them sweets. Speaking to reporters at the Srirangam railway station, Mr. Durai Vaiko thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and railway officers for regularising the Charlapalli - Tiruchi - Charlapalli weekly express train heeding his request.The regularisation of the train via Tirupati, Tiruvannamalai and Srirangam would immensely benefit devotees, students and those seeking medical treatment and even businessmen, Mr. Durai Vaiko said. The South Central Railway had in late May announced the regularisation of this train in both directions which was running as weekly specials.The regularised service from Charlapalli came into effect from July 7.
