Tiruchi Lok Sabha MP Durai Vaiko has urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to accord permission for doubling the Tiruchi - Karur broad gauge electrified section. This was one of the set of demands put forth by Mr. Durai Vaiko when he met the Railway Minister at New Delhi on Wednesday. In a memorandum to the Railway Minister, Mr. Durai Vaiko said the Tiruchi - Karur BG section was a single line stretch and sought speedy permission for doubling the section to augment passenger and freight traffic.Introduction of a daily day-time intercity express service from Tiruchi to Tiruchendur via Pudukottai, Karaikudi and Aruppukottai; operation of a night service from Tiruchi to Chamrajanagar; halt of Tiruchi - Mayiladuthurai MEMU train and Ernakulam - Karaikal express at Tiruverumbur; halt of Mysuru - Cuddalore Port express train at Pettavaithalai; halt of the Chennai - Rameswaram express at Keeranur station and include Tiruchi under the Vision 2030 scheme were the other demands placed by Mr. Durai Vaiko to the Railway Minister.
