Marking a milestone in the regional transportation history of North Coastal Andhra, the Anakapalle–Cherlapalli express train was officially flagged off on Sunday.
The inaugural ceremony was hailed by residents as a historic moment that fulfils a long-standing demand for direct and reliable connectivity to the Hyderabad region.
The new express service provides a crucial link between Anakapalle and the newly developed Cherlapalli terminal. For the residents of Yelamanchili and dozens of surrounding villages, this train eliminates the previous logistical hurdles of reaching major hubs.
By offering a consistent schedule, the service is expected to significantly improve travel convenience for students, daily commuters, and long-distance travellers alike, while simultaneously boosting regional accessibility.
Local leaders and railway officials emphasised that this launch is more than just a new route; it is a vital step toward integrating North Coastal Andhra with major economic corridors.
