The Lagos State branch of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has petitioned the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos State Police Command, calling for an urgent investigation into the alleged involvement of a man identified as Okuchukwu Ibekwe, an unnamed lawyer, and a police officer popularly known as "Small" over the disappearance of three-year-old Ibrahim Owoduni.

According to the petition signed by Samuel Adeoba, Assistant Secretary of CDHR, Aguda Unit, the principal suspect in the case is Christian Ibekwe, who is currently at large and was allegedly identified during investigations as the person who purchased the child for N1.5 million.
