A woman suffered serious injuries after being attacked by two dogs while walking along Tsar Boris III Street in the Bulgarian town of Samokov on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a police investigation and the detention of the animals' owner.
The incident was reported to the Samokov Regional Police Department at around 4:00 p.m. Officers were immediately dispatched after receiving information that a woman had been mauled by dogs in the area.
According to the initial findings, the victim was walking along the street when she was suddenly attacked by two dogs that were being led by a man. The animals inflicted multiple severe bite wounds before the attack was brought under control.
The woman was rushed to a hospital in Sofia for emergency treatment. She sustained numerous lacerations to her head, face, and neck. Authorities have not yet released information regarding her current medical condition.
Following the attack, the owner of the dogs left the scene instead of remaining with the victim. Police quickly launched a search, located the man shortly afterward, and detained him for up to 24 hours.
