A 66-year-old man was injured in a dog attack Friday morning in the Athens suburb of Vrilissia, while the dog he was walking was fatally injured, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 7.30 a.m. when a 48-year-old woman tied her dog outside a bakery on Kyprou Street and entered the shop.
A few minutes later, as the man passed by with his own dog, the woman’s dog broke loose and attacked them, police said. The 66-year-old man suffered injuries to his hand, thigh, shoulder blade and knee, while his dog was bitten and later died from its injuries.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Gennimatas General Hospital in Athens for treatment.
