Police have seized beedi leaves worth ₹10 lakh even as it had been stocked at Terespuram Beach to be smuggled to Sri Lanka by boat.Police said surprise check at Mottai Gopuram area on Terespuram Beach was conducted in the early hours of Tuesday following information that beedi leaf bundles were to be smuggled to Sri Lanka by boat.The police team, led by Inspector Velraj, found that 14 bundles with 420 kg of beedi leaf had been stocked at this secluded area to be smuggled to the neighbouring island nation in fibreglass boats.
