Thoothukludi Q Branch police seized soap bars, shampoo sachets, and a fibre boat at Therespuram beach late on Wednesday night.The products were intended for smuggling to Sri Lanka through the seized boat.Acting on a tip off, the Q Branch police conducted a night patrol operation in the area. During the operation, police found a double-engine fibre boat without a registration number loaded with goods, allegedly meant for illegal transportation to Sri Lanka.The police seized 42 sacks containing 158 cartons of soap bars, totalling 9,840 bars along with 11,520 shampoo sachets that had been loaded onto the boat for smuggling.The seized goods along with fibre boat have been handed over to the customs department for further action.
