As part of the Career Awareness and Skills Week 2026, a week-long series of career guidance and skill development programmes for students will be organised across the district from July 9 to 15, Collector S. Kandasamy said.In a press release, the Collector said the State government had designated the second week of July as Career Awareness and Skills Week in view of World Youth Skills Day, observed on July 15. The Department of Employment and Training will organise awareness programmes on career guidance and skill development during the week.The programmes, to be conducted by the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre, will cover career planning, competitive examinations, free coaching offered through District Employment Offices, State government self-employment loan schemes, free skill training programmes, employment opportunities in the private sector and private job fairs.A special career guidance programme for persons with disabilities will be held at the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre on July 9. A career guidance and skill awareness programme for women will be organised at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Modakkurichi, on July 10.Similar programmes will be held at Surya Engineering College on July 13, Chikkaiah Government Arts and Science College on July 14, and Kongu Polytechnic College, Perundurai, and the Government Industrial Training Institute, Erode, on July 15.Experts from various fields will address participants on skill development, competitive examinations and online learning resources.
