Russian troops are building fortifications in areas where they have managed to establish positions. This activity is most evident in the Oleksandrivka sector of the front, where, under pressure from Ukraine's Defense Forces, Russian troops are transitioning to active defensive operations.
Spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South Vladyslav Voloshyn said this during a television broadcast, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Wherever the enemy manages to gain even a slight foothold, they are constructing fortifications," Voloshyn said.
According to him, this is particularly noticeable in the Oleksandrivka sector, where Ukraine's Defense Forces are conducting active combat operations and have achieved some success in destroying Russian forces.
"On certain sections of the front, we are forcing the enemy to switch to active defensive operations rather than offensive ones. That is why they are making use of engineering fortifications that already existed there, both theirs and ours," Voloshyn said.
