The Oyo State Government on Monday partnered with the Aliko Dangote Foundation to distribute 10kg bags of rice to about 30,000 vulnerable residents across the state as part of efforts to cushion the impact of economic hardship.

The distribution, which took place at the Local Government Training School, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, marked the second phase of the Oyo State Government–Dangote Foundation Food Relief Outreach under the state’s Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery initiative.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Musibau Babatunde, said the programme was designed to reduce poverty and improve the welfare of vulnerable groups across the state.

He said, “The programme aims to alleviate poverty among residents and improve the welfare of the residents, especially the socially disadvantaged groups, including widows, the underprivileged, people living with disabilities, the aged and other vulnerable people.
