The appeal stems from Bello's dispute with the University of Ibadan over his inability to graduate after completing his master's degree in Communication Arts in 2023.

The legal battle between the University of Ibadan and a postgraduate student, Kayode Bello, over his inability to graduate has been adjourned by the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan until October 29, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Bello alleged that the adjournment followed a threat by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Maryam Belgore, who he claimed warned him that the matter could be given a longer hearing date if he failed to "cooperate" during a court-ordered mediation process.

According to Bello, the appeal came up before the Court of Appeal on July 3, where the presiding judge, Justice Georgewill Abraham, adjourned the matter until October 29 despite his request that the appeal be heard the same day.

Bello claimed the case could have proceeded to hearing on June 29 but was instead referred to mediation by the court. The mediation reportedly took place on July 1 before Belgore but ended without a settlement.
