The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday that heavy to very heavy rain, with sustained wind speeds of 50-60 kmph, is likely at a few places across the three coastal districts from July 6 to 9.The Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response under the Union government said squally weather, with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the Gujarat-Karnataka coast from Monday to Friday.According to the Office of the Udupi Deputy Commissioner, seven houses were partially damaged due to rain in Udupi district in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday. The total loss was estimated at ₹1.70 lakh.The damaged houses were in Byndoor, Kaup, Brahmavar and Kundapur taluks.The district recorded 42.4 mm rainfall during the period. The maximum rainfall of 71.7 mm was recorded in Hebri taluk and the minimum of 4.7 mm in Kaup taluk.According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, coastal Karnataka as a whole recorded 45 mm rainfall during the period against the normal rainfall of 38 mm for the period.Jalsoor in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada recorded 149.5 mm rainfall, while Kambadakone in Byndoor taluk in Udupi district reported 124 mm rainfall during the period.
