Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has been ruled out of the first Nations Championship match against England.
The long-awaited Nations Championship showdown between the Springboks and England at Ellis Park was shrouded in intrigue right up until the whistle at 5.40pm.
First there was the revelation that England fullback George Furbank had been taken to hospital with appendicitis after suffering painful symptoms on Friday.
England had not officially named a replacement by kick-off, but it is understood to be the versatile Marcus Smith, who had been on the bench.
On the South African side of the fence, rumours in the media suite were rife that Eben Etzebeth has been pulled out of the game, with Pieter-Steph du Toit moving from flank to lock, and Paul de Villiers starting.
