Cheslin Kolbe should be one of the stars for the Springboks if he is selected for the opening Test of the Nations Championship against England on Saturday in Johannesburg.
Few international rugby fixtures carry the weight of a Springboks versus England Test, and Ellis Park is set to host another blockbuster encounter between the old rivals on Saturday.
The world champions head into the clash (5.40pm kick-off) on the back of a convincing victory over the Barbarians last weekend, but that result will count for little when they face the English for the first time on South African soil since 2018.
That series holds fond memories for several Bok veterans, including captain Siya Kolisi and head coach Rassie Erasmus, after South Africa recovered from a slow start to claim an unassailable 2-0 lead with victories in Johannesburg and Bloemfontein before the visitors salvaged the final Test in Cape Town.
Ellis Park should once again provide the perfect backdrop as the Springboks look to lay down the first marker of their 2026 Test season against Steve Borthwick’s side.
