Rassie Erasmus and his Springboks have been hard at work in Johannesburg as they prepare for the first Test of the 2026 season when they take on England in the Nations Championship.

SA Rugby has slashed ticket prices ahead of the Springboks' highly anticipated Nations Championship opener against England at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The move comes after slow initial ticket sales for the match, which saw thousands of seats still available earlier this week for the Boks’ first match of the season. Apparently, less than 25 000 tickets were sold before the end of last week.

According to Independent Media’s information, that number grew to just under 40,000 by Thursday afternoon, but more than 22,000 seats were still available at the 62,000-seater venue.

Rugby fans spent the last few years raising serious concerns over the increasingly prohibitive cost of attending Tests in the country ever since SA Rugby took over the hosting of matches from the rugby unions.
