A wildfire broke out Saturday in the Spata area of eastern Attica, prompting a major firefighting response and emergency alerts to residents.

According to the Fire Service, the blaze is burning in a forested area near Spata Avenue, close to the Nasioutzik Mansion.

Authorities have deployed 47 firefighters, including two teams of ground crews, along with 20 fire engines and two aircraft. Water tankers from local municipalities are also assisting in the effort to contain the fire.

Emergency alerts were sent via Greece’s 112 system to residents in Spata and Pallini, warning of wildfire activity in the wider eastern Attica region. “Remain on alert and follow the instructions of the authorities,” the message said.
