Greece’s Parliament has approved, by majority vote, a labor ministry bill on an EU directive regarding equal pay among men and women and extending hazardous and arduous occupation status to healthcare workers.
Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Anna Efthimiou, said during the parliamentary debate that “this is a legislative initiative that addresses discrimination and inequalities and is essential for social cohesion and social progress.”
Special maternity leave in the private sector has been extended from six to nine months and made available to all female freelancers, self-employed women and female farmers.
