Madlanga Commission is forging ahead with evidence linked to Deputy Crime Intelligence head Feroz Khan, despite his absence as he remains in hospital after being shot in Johannesburg last Sunday.

Evidence leaders continued proceedings while Khan's legal team attended on his behalf, saying he is unconscious and in a critical condition.

His lawyers previously invited commissioners to visit him in hospital following claims the late-night shooting may have been staged.

They are also expected to submit a fresh application seeking permission for parts of Khan's testimony to be heard behind closed doors.

On Wednesday, the commission rejected an earlier request, ruling it lacked sufficient detail to justify in-camera proceedings.
