Some victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse have received letters warning their abusers may be freed early to ease prison overcrowding – as this programme revealed Wednesday.
From September, most offenders in England and Wales will spend less time in custody, with some to be released after serving just a third of their sentence.
But figures exclusively obtained by this programme raise questions about how far the Probation Service can monitor these offenders once they are back in the community.
