The Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Kohgiluyeh County announced the sealing and closure of 10 cafes and coffee shops in the city of Dehdasht for what was termed a “failure to observe Sharia principles.” Judicial cases have also been opened against the operators of these commercial establishments.
Reza Rostamnejad, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Kohgiluyeh, stated that the crackdown was carried out under the framework of the so-called “Social Security Promotion” plan. The operation involved the participation of the Intelligence and Public Places Police (Amaken), representatives from the Chamber of Guilds, and the Department of Industry, Mines, and Trade.
According to Rostamnejad, these business units were shuttered by judicial order due to their “disregard for the law” and “failure to adhere to Islamic codes.”
The move follows a renewed wave of closures targeting commercial businesses across the country. Previously, police in Lorestan province announced the sealing of a business unit on charges of “norm-breaking” and the initiation of legal proceedings against its manager. Before that, five cafe-restaurants and traditional teahouses in the same province were shut down under the banner of the “Moral and Social Security Promotion” initiative, a trend highlighting intensified oversight and punitive actions by law enforcement and judicial bodies against businesses under the pretext of enforcing religious standards and social norms.
