Hugo Broos has admitted deep disappointment at being unable to call on Themba Zwane during Bafana Bafana’s FIFA World Cup campaign, describing the situation as a “pity” given the role the midfielder was expected to play.
Zwane’s absence through injury-robbed Broos of one of his most experienced and creative midfield options — a player he had specifically planned to lean on in high-pressure moments on the world stage.
“It’s a pity because we took Themba with us in the hope he could help us,” Broos reflected.
Instead, that plan never materialised in any meaningful way.
