A 60-year-old worker, V. Rajammal, was critically injured in a fire accident reported at Gurulakshmi Pyrotechs in Nathikudi near Sivakasi.Police said that the accident was reported at around 4 p.m, in the fireworks unit, licensed by Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation. The unit was producing atom bombs and other crackers when the accident was reported.Fire and Rescue Services team from Sivakasi put out the fire. Five working sheds were razed to the ground. Finished and semi-finished goods in other sheds were also destroyed. The injuried has been admitted to Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital with 80% burns.Maraneri police are investigating. Published - July 02, 2026 08:01 pm IST
