PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis extended his sympathies to the family, calling for the perpetrators to be identified, brought to justice and punished. “In a democratic society governed by the rule of law, there can be no tolerance for such criminal acts,” he said.
Greek Left Alliance leader and former premier Alexis Tsipras described the incident as “a shocking loss of human life in a criminal arson attack,” expressing condolences to the victim’s family.
“Terrorism has no place in a democracy. Human life is a supreme value and its defense is a common obligation of all of us,” he said.
SYRIZA also issued a statement saying that “human life is of supreme value and this loss causes deep sorrow,” adding that “any form of political violence is absolutely condemnable and has no place in a democratic society.”
