The funeral of Vagia Nestora, a woman who died in a fatal arson attack at her home in northern Greece, was held on Thursday at the Metropolitan Church of St. Nicholas in the city of Kozani.

The service was attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, main opposition PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis and other politicians.

Nestora’s family home was set on fire on July 1 during a series of arson attacks on property belonging to New Democracy officials. The 72-year-old woman suffered extensive burns and died a few hours later in hospital.

Her daughter, Afroditi Nestora, who is affiliated with the ruling New Democracy party and was also hospitalized after the attack discharged herself from Papageorgiou General Hospital to attend the funeral.

Vagia Nestora will be buried at the cemetery of Agios Georgios in Kozani.
