Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan declared a holiday for all schools and PU colleges in the district on Thursday (July 2) in view of the red alert for extremely heavy rainfall on the day. The holiday is also applicable to anganwadis, he said.He asked people to stay away from beaches and banks of rivers, and advised fishermen to not sail out for fishing in the sea.District and taluk-level officers have been instructed not to leave their respective headquarters.
