Coronation Street's Megan Walsh finally faced court on Tuesday night's episode of the long-running ITV soap but shockingly made her mum manipulate Will ahead of the trial21:13, 30 Jun 2026Coronation Street's Megan Walsh finally faced court on Tuesday night's episode of the ITV soap. The disgraced teacher, played by Beth Nixon, conducted an illicit relationship with teenager Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) and looked finally set to face justice for her actions. But on the day it all kicked off, Megan's mum Janine (Melissa Jacques) made her first appearance on the cobbles and marched into the pub where she apologised to Eva and Ben for what she had done. The couple decided it was best for Will not to meet Janine, which left Megan seething as she waited for her mother in the car.She said: "You didn't try, is what you mean, cos if you did, then you would have spoke to Will. You know, you just don't even care, do you? I realise this must be hard, but imagine being me?"Right? I made one stupid mistake. He wouldn't leave me alone! I was flattered, I suppose. He wore me down. And that's something that I'm going to have to live with for the rest of my days. It was a brief lapse of judgement and as soon as I came to my senses, I don't deserve to get my life torched for that. Do I?"Janine then found Wil on the street and told himl: "I just wanted to apologise for everything she's put you through. It's unforgivable. It's... It's not your fault. She were just a normal girl... She was bright, had a good career... prospects... She's thrown that all away, and I don't know why. The thing is, I know, in my heart, she isn't all those vile things people are calling her."If that's true, it can only mean that she really loved you. It was completely inappropriate, but it's the only explanation, the only reason she'd condemn herself to years in prison getting all kinds of abuse every day she's in there."In her own warped way, she must've thought you were worth the risk." This left Will questioning things, and Janine marched off, as Will began to question things.Soon enough, court was in session and Will took to the witness box where he said: "Look, I'm-I'm sorry. I can't do this. There was no relationship," as gasps were heard from the gallery. He added: "I wanted it to be true, but I knew that it wasn't, OK? She was my coach, and that's all. She's done nothing wrong," as Megan looked both surprised and relieved. Will's grandmother Maggie was furious, and raged to the barrister during a court break: "Explain to me how that nasty little tramp still has a hold over him. Lord only knows what secret messages she delivered with those eyes!"They were then warned the trial may not continue. The whole thing left Adam Barlow, Megan's lawyer, taken aback as he didn't expect Will to change his story but Megan simply said it would now be "laughed out of court," and told him to stay on her side.Fans instantly took to social media to react as Megan twisted things in an attempt to get away with everything. One fan wrote on X:"Urghhhh….Megan making me angry, making out she was the vulnerable one, Will is a child…"Another said: "I hope Will gets justice! Megan is vile!" and a third wrote: "Megan is truly showing her true colours now. A true narcissist and a manipulative b****. Even to her own mum. Enjoy prison, hun!"Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream from 7am on ITV X.Article continues below* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
