MMDA uses recycled materials in Pasig sidewalk improvement plan

MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday launched a sidewalk improvement project along C5 road in Pasig City that will use bricks made of recycled materials.

In a statement, the MMDA said the initiative seeks to repair and rehabilitate sidewalks from Ortigas Avenue to Bagong Ilog.

The existing sidewalks, which are made of traditional impervious concrete, will be replaced with a “permeable pavement” that includes stormwater detention tanks when possible.
