MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Thursday entered into a five-year partnership with Rotterdam-based non-profit The Ocean Cleanup to help remove floating plastic waste from the Pasig River.
Additionally, they aim to introduce low-cost cleanup technologies supported by scientific data sharing and baseline environmental assessments.

“The Pasig River has carried the burden of our consumption habits for far too long,” Environment Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna said in a statement on Thursday.
