The Office, commemorating 25 years since the hit mockumentary first aired. Ricky Gervais, co-creator and star of The Office, will not be participating in the BBC's celebratory documentary, with his representative stating he “was not available”. Instead, Gervais announced he will release his own documentary on his YouTube channel around 9 July, marking the exact anniversary of the show's debut. Stephen Merchant, the other co-creator of The Office, will also be absent from the BBC's one-off special. The BBC's documentary, featuring Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman, is scheduled to air on BBC Two and iPlayer on Wednesday 8 July at 10pm.
