June 25 (UPI) -- Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook, stars of the original British version of The Office, are reuniting for a 25th anniversary special celebrating the influential mockumentary series. on July 8
The show was created in 2001 by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant and starred Gervais as David Brent, regional manager for a paper company, who is desperate to be loved and often makes his staff uncomfortable with his inappropriate humor.
Freeman played mild-mannered Tim, who tries to get his boring work done, despite the distractions of his workplace, while Crook played Garreth, his humorless, by-the-books desk-mate.
"The Office stars Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook -- aka Gareth and Tim -- are reunited to look back at the groundbreaking series, sharing personal memories, behind the scenes stories and reflecting on its enduring legacy and cultural impact," the British broadcaster said in a press release Thursday.
