More than 100 DMK cadre were removed by the police here on Monday (June 29, 2026) after they staged a protest without permission demanding the resignation of Minister for Human Resources Management D. Sarathkumar.The DMK Students’ Wing had announced State-wide demonstrations following the circulation of a video on social media that allegedly showed the Minister consuming narcotic substances. Citing the allegations, the party demanded his resignation and called for protests across the State. Although the police denied permission, the party decided to go ahead with the agitation.DMK Students’ Wing members and party functionaries assembled near the Kalaimadu Silai. The protest was led by K.E. Prakash, State deputy secretary of the DMK Youth Wing and Erode Member of the Lok Sabha. The participants raised slogans against the Minister and urged the government to remove him from the Cabinet.Police personnel deployed at the venue intervened soon after the protest began. More than 100 cadre were removed in police vehicles to a nearby marriage hall, where they were held for several hours before being released.
