There have been a lot of painful moments in the last 12 months but this one is definitely the absolute worst as there is no greater honour for a British player than playing at Wimbledon. I will continue to persevere through this. Thank you for the support!!”
The news followed Raducanu announcing Sunday night that a stress fracture in her right leg had forced her to withdraw from the tournament, and a first-round match against Antonia Ružić.Draper was out with the original arm injury from August last year until February, and after a brief return was forced out for a couple of months with a knee problem. Making this another bitter blow for a player who was ranked No. 4 this time last year but has tumbled out of the world’s top 100 because of those persistent injuries. His place in the draw will be taken by a lucky loser from qualifying.Jun 29, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern.
