—The launch. President Lula unveiled Desenrola Adimplentes on June 29 at the Planalto palace, a new phase of his flagship debt program aimed at people who pay on time.

—The target. It is built for informal workers, those without a formal CLT job or a public-service post, who pay the steepest personal-credit rates for lack of income proof.

—The terms. Eligibility covers unsecured personal debts of up to R$15,000 (US$2,900) with at least five installments already paid on time.

—The cut. The plan aims to refinance that debt at roughly 3.49% to 3.99% a month, down from a category average near 125% a year, about 7% a month.
