Heinz has launched a brand new pasta sauce, inspired by a delightful treat that over 400 million people have viewed across social media platforms, but is it as good as a homemade version?08:28, 29 Jun 2026I tried Heinz brand new sauce based on viral recipe loved by millionsHeinz has launched a brand new pasta sauce based on a viral recipe that's been viewed over 400 million times on social media. Heinz's Marry Me Pasta Sauce is inspired by the sauce that would often be put with 'marry me chicken,' and it's a recipe my now-fiancée made me almost two years ago, and it was delicious! So to hear that the recipe had become even more accessible to people by putting it in a jar was really exciting, and I knew that I had to put it to the test for myself. The sauce is described by Heinz as being "made with sundried tomatoes, cream cheese, extra virgin olive oil and basil."Heinz Marry Me Pasta Sauce delivers a rich and creamy flavour with no added sugar, making it ideal for everything from midweek dinners to date nights at home."Did the Heinz sauce live up to the hype? After trying it for myself, I can say that it's definitely perfect for a midweek meal when you can't really be bothered to knock a dish up from scratch. But, in all honesty, if I were served this on a date night, I'd be pretty unimpressed. And this is despite the fact that 30% of people would cook pasta to impress a date. I'm not really sure why, when it takes literally minutes to boil, but maybe I'm just expecting too much.We added garlic and onion to the sauce to elevate the flavour, too, and some chicken. If I were cooking it for myself, I'd probably pop some mushrooms in too, but my fiancé hates them, so they're a no-go if we're both eating.Content cannot be displayed without consentAnna Williamson, dating expert, said: "Food has long brought people together, and it continues to play a major role in modern dating."Sharing a meal helps people slow down, connect and build intimacy, making it easy to see why pasta ranks among the nation’s most romantic foods."Comforting and sociable, it’s often linked to quality time together. Cooking for someone is a meaningful gesture of care and effort, which is why many see it as a powerful expression of affection."From first dates to meeting the parents, food has a unique ability to strengthen relationships and sometimes, the way to someone’s heart really is through their stomach".I really like the sentiment behind the sauce, but sadly, the flavour did not live up to it for me. I feel like it's because I've become so accustomed to homemade sauces that are just so much more delicious. While this didn't taste bad by any means, it isn't as flavourful as if you made a pasta sauce yourself. It just tasted a little bit like a mascarpone sauce. My fiancé agreed as well, saying that it was nice enough, just a little bit less flavourful than we'd usually like. We both also love spicy food, so it was a little bit 'plain' for us.Article continues belowSo while it might not be spicing up any date nights for the pair of us, I'd say that if you have kids and need something quick and easy during the week when you really cannot muster the strength to cook, it's well worth having in the cupboard for a couple of quid. Will you be trying the new Heinz Marry Me sauce?
