The Maradu police have launched a probe after a newborn boy was found abandoned in the early hours of Sunday (June 28).The infant, suspected to have been abandoned shortly after birth, was found lying on a bench outside a shop near a mall at Maradu in Kochi at around 12.30 a.m. The newborn was found by passers-by who heard his cries. They alerted the police. A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the infant to the Ernakulam General Hospital, where he is undergoing medical care.The police sources said they were examining CCTV footage from the area and verifying records at nearby hospitals.
