The EFF has formally asked Deputy Speaker Annelie Lotriet to initiate proceedings to remove National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza, alleging she placed political interests above Parliament's constitutional obligations in the Phala Phala impeachment process.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has filed a motion seeking the removal of National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza over her handling of the Phala Phala impeachment process involving President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The party submitted the motion to Deputy Speaker Annelie Lotriet on Friday, June 26.
In a letter, EFF national chairperson and parliamentary chief whip Nontando Nolutshungu confirmed the tabling of the motion against Didiza.
"The motion is in the name of the President of the Economic Freedom Fighters and party leader in the National Assembly, Hon. J.S. Malema,” she said.
