Three young Australian footballers have turned holiday friendships into a lasting gift for Samoa, donating a large collection of soccer gear to Vaivase-tai Football Club after training and playing with the team during a visit to the country.
James, Otto and Louie Ferency organised the donation following their time in Samoa, where they spent part of their holiday training with players from the club. Inspired by the friendships they formed, the boys collected football equipment from their home club, Palm Beach Soccer Club in Australia, to support aspiring young footballers in Samoa.
The donation included training gear, football boots, uniforms and other equipment that will benefit junior players at Vaivase-tai Football Club. The gear arrived in Samoa in April and has been stored in preparation for the upcoming youth football season.
Club officials said the equipment will be distributed to deserving young players once the underage competition gets underway, helping them participate in the sport with greater confidence and pride.
Vaivase-tai Football Club also acknowledged the support of the boys' parents, Adam and Lisa Ferency, and Adam's mother, Ainslie, for their continued commitment to the club. During visits to Samoa, the family regularly brought the boys to training sessions and has remained supportive of the club since returning to Australia.
