Even the heavens showered blessings as a famous son of Siumu returned home. Melbourne Storm fullback Sua Faalogo visited his village with a few of his teammates, and his words to those who want to follow in his footsteps were: 'Always listen to your parents'.
The visit to Siumu Primary School and Palalaua College was a beautiful mix of cultural pride and grassroots for the footy elites, highlighting the strong bond between the National Rugby League club and the island.
For the 23-year-old Fa’alogo, the journey was emotional. He couldn't hide his gratitude for the club’s leadership and staff who pulled the trip together.
"It's a very special moment for me," Fa’alogo said. "Without them, this wouldn't happen. I'm so grateful for them, especially choosing my school and my village as well. It means a lot to them."
Storm officials were just as moved, calling it a "great privilege" to experience the local culture. They spoke highly of the Samoan players on their roster, describing them as great people from loving communities with a beautiful way of life.
