A 48-year-old policeman was fatally knocked down by sewage lorry on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Chennai on Sunday (June 28, 2026). Police said the deceased, identified as Jaiganesh, was working as car driver for Tambaram Assistant Police Commissioner Vaishnavi. On Sunday, he was proceeding from his house in his two wheeler to Ms. Vishnavi’s house on the Rajiv Gandhi Salai. As he was near the Sholinganallur junction, a sewage lorry hit his vehicle from behind. Jaiganesh sustained severe head injury and died on the spot.Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation wing sent the body to Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem.
