Students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Ifetedo Campus, have alleged that negligence at the institution’s health centre contributed to the death of a final-year student, Grace Osunlakin, an allegation the university has denied.
Grace, a final-year student of Criminology and Security Studies, reportedly died on Wednesday, prompting protests by students on the campus.
The protesting students claimed that Osunlakin had earlier visited the university’s health centre after falling ill but was allegedly advised to return to her hostel without receiving treatment.
According to the students, her condition later worsened and when they sought medical help in the evening, the university health centre was no longer open.
