Authorities in Greece’s Attica region will remain on high alert Sunday as wildfire risk stays at Category 4, or very high, on the national fire danger map.
State agencies, municipalities and volunteer teams were at full readiness Saturday, with continuous patrols, fire watch posts and emergency coordination centers operating around the clock.
In northern Attica’s Dionysos municipality, volunteer firefighters said patrols focused on high-risk areas designated by the Fire Service, with equipment already in place and constant communications maintained. In Penteli, fire watch posts monitored the wider area for early signs of smoke and relayed information directly to emergency centers and the Fire Service.
Officials also inspected ongoing firebreak construction in Aspropyrgos, aimed at protecting settlements and forest areas near Mount Parnitha.
