Two people have died in a head-on collision involving a truck and a light motor vehicle on the R61 near Cicira in the Eastern Cape

Two people have died in a head-on collision involving a truck and a light motor vehicle on the R61 near Cicira in the Eastern Cape on Saturday morning.

According to ALS Paramedics Mthatha, emergency services responded shortly after 08:00 to reports of a serious crash. On arrival, paramedics found the scene in disarray, with a truck and a light motor vehicle having collided head-on, causing the truck to overturn.

Inside the light motor vehicle, a man and a woman sustained severe injuries. Despite efforts by paramedics from EMS and ALS Paramedics, both were declared dead at the scene.

"Paramedics from EMS and ALS Paramedics assessed the scene and found two occupants in the light motor vehicle a male and a female had sustained major injuries and unfortunately, there was nothing Paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene. The truck driver sustained no injuries," ALS Paramedics said.
