A woman suffered serious injuries to her neck and head from a gun shot on Saturday, at the Malevizi shooting range in the municipality of Krousonas, central Crete.
People at the shooting range called the ambulance service whose crew tried to revive the 43-year-old woman who was in cardiac arrest. After she was resuscitated and intubated, she was transferred to the Venizeleio Hospital of Iraklio, where she remains in critical condition.
According to initial information from police sources, the woman went to the shooting range for the first time this morning and received temporary licence to shoot. Her injury occurred in the presence of the person in charge of the shooting range, the same sources said.
Police is investigating the causes of her fatal injury which include the possibility of an accidental gun discharge and suicide.
