On 16 June 2001, Sister Emmanuel Josephine pronounced her first vows at the Bangalore Novitiate in India and donned the habit. On Saturday, a little celebration was held by the Little Sisters of the Poor at the Mapuifagalele Home for the Aged.

In her reflection, Sr Josephine spoke about the congregation's mission of caring for the elderly, saying their work goes beyond meeting physical needs.

She said the congregation also places importance on caring for both the physical and spiritual needs of the elderly.

"Reconciling with the family is very important. And I see that very often when they live with us, towards the end, when they come to know, they will depart from this world. They like to bring all the family together, and when we call them to come, everybody will come, and that reconciliation has a lot of meaning to it. This is our ultimate goal."

"I am Sister Sr. Josephine Emmanuel, a Little Sister of the Poor. I grew up in a catholic family in Andhra Pradesh, INDIA, where faith was very strong."
