A national pulse polio immunisation campaign will be held across Tamil Nadu on June 28.Elaborate arrangements have been made to immunise a total of 52.91 lakh children, aged 0 to five years, through 43,051 centres set up in all Primary Health Centres, government hospitals, anganwadi centres, schools, and other places in the State.According to a press release, even if children aged 0 to five years had already received the oral polio vaccine as per the national immunisation schedule, they should be given the drops again on the day of the immunisation camp.Arrangements have been made to administer the drops through transit booths set up at major bus terminals, railway stations, toll plazas, check posts, and airports during campaign days.The centres will function from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the first day (Sunday), the drops will be administered at all booths. On June 29 and 30, it will be administered at the transit booths. It will also be administered for children of migrant workers belonging to other States at these booths.In addition, arrangements have been made to administer the drops through mobile medical teams to children living in remote, hard-to-reach areas, and tribal areas.More than two lakh persons, including health workers, anganwadi workers, teachers and volunteers, were engaged in the campaign.Parents were requested to make use of this opportunity and ensure that their children under the age of five receive polio drops, the release said.
